Volunteer expo

Community stallholders are invited to register their interest in the Whittlesea Volunteering Expo, Wednesday, May 24, 10am-2pm, at The Great Hall, Whittlesea civic centre, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang. The aim of the expo is to highlight local volunteer programs.

Children’s day

Celebrate Turkish national sovereignty and children’s day at The Age Library, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows, on Monday, April 24, 11am-noon. There will be a fun-filled morning of family-friendly entertainment, including a special Turkish bilingual storytime session.

Cutting winter energy bills

Head to The Age Library on Wednesday, May 3, for some sensible advice on cutting the cost of winter energy bills. The Hume Enviro Champions program is all about helping locals make city life more sustainable. The next session is at 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows, 6-8pm.

Volunteers needed

The Office of the Public Advocate needs community visitor volunteers to help protect the human rights of people with disabilities by visiting accommodation centres, and monitoring and reporting on the services provided. Training and reimbursement of expenses are provided.

Community courses

Thomastown Neighbourhood House has a variety of courses in term two. Barista training is on Mondays and Tuesdays, volunteer training and community events planning are on Thursdays. English as an additional language classes start Monday, April 24, and sewing classes start May 1.
