FFA Cup: Craigieburn City’s debut ends in heavy loss

New state league side Craigieburn City found the going tough in their debut in the nationwide FFA Cup.

The club, which will compete in state league 5 west this season, crashed 5‐2 to state league 4 east side St Kevins Old Boys at Wallace Reserve on Saturday in round one of the Victorian stage of the competition.

Sacid Cicek and Francesco Cappello scored for City.

In other FFA Cup round one matches, it came down to penalties to separate Altona North and

Epping City after a 0‐0 draw at Harvest Home Reserve. Epping won the shootout 5‐4.

Epping will play state league 3 side Melbourne City.

Upfield had a 4‐2 win over Harrisfield Hurricanes after scores were level at 1‐1 at half time. They will now play Hampton Park United Sparrows in round 2.

State league 3 north‐west side Lalor United came from two goals down to beat Baxter 3‐2. United has drawn Altona City in the second round.

Plenty Valley Lions suffered a 3‐0 loss to Dandenong Warriors and Bundoora United had the same result against Fawkner.

In other round 2 matches, Sporting Whittlesea will play Melton Phoenix,  Hume United plays Wangaratta City, Whittlesea United will host North Caulfield
