Traffic lights will replace a round about at a congested intersection in Lalor.
The state government has announced it will spend $5.5 million to make the Dalton and Childs roads intersection safer.
Cars bank up for hundreds of metres during peak times, prompting many drivers to risk an accident to try and clean the round about.
Thomastown MP Bronwyn Halfpenny said the new traffic lights will remove frustrating queues that drivers are often stuck in.
“Locals are concerned about this intersection, and we’ve listened. This upgrade will make it safer and less congested for local road users,” she said.
The roundabout carries large volumes of traffic in a north south direction as it connects to the M80 Ring Road. Childs Road is also a popular east west route and links Plenty Road and High Street.
