Lalor Stars youngsters get cricket wishes granted

Lalor Stars Cricket Club youngsters went into the nets to train with stars of the Victorian Bushrangers as part of a special sports grant the club recently received.

Lalor Stars is one of five clubs around Australia to be selected for a CommBank cricket clubs ‘empowerment’ project. It will also be receiving a new equipment pack complete with match necessities, such as stumps, balls and markers.

Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Hussey, a CommBank cricket club ambassador, is urging clubs around the nation to go for the grants on offer.

From providing equipment or upgrades to championing women’s cricket, CommBank will help out with resources and equipment, and the right people to get the job done.

“The support and contributions from Commonwealth Bank help clubs make the game more accessible and enjoyable for players, ensuring cricket continues to be an important part of our community,” Hussey said.

Applications for this year are open until August 15.
