A lone hand from Mitchell Streiff couldn’t save Roxburgh Park-Broadmeadows against Werribee on Saturday as the Falcons lost by 69 runs in east-west first XI.
Werribee made a match-winning 9-205 after winning the toss and batting at Lakeside Drive Reserve. RPB was all out for 136 by the 35th over in reply.
Streiff came in at 2-15 and was ninth out for 81.
No other RPB batsman passed 20, with a 4-11 collapse through the middle order caused by Werribee’s Jonathon Burton (4-27).
Mitchell Johnstone was best of the RPB bowlers with 3-39.
In second XI, Roxburgh Park-Broadmeadows was well short as its 106 all out lost to Werribee (7-209) by 103 runs.
In north-south first XI, Plenty Valley’s glut of runs continued, with Sean Ayres blazing 180 in a 39-run win against Ormond.
Ayres and Lorenzo Ingram (70) piled on 259 for the second wicket at EE Gunn Reserve as Plenty Valley posted 7-305 off just 45 overs.
Ormond made a go of the chase but couldn’t match the run rate required and finished its 45 overs with 7-266.
Ayres (2-37) and Ingram (2-48) followed up their knocks with two of the three best bowling figures for Plenty Valley, with Andrew McCormack (2-44) the other multiple wicket-taker.
In second XI, Plenty Valley’s Dylan Forster hit 113 not out as he and Hayden Einsiedel (41no) picked off 0-172 in 30.1 overs to beat Ormond (8-171) by 10 wickets.
