Film captures cultural melting pot

The world premiere of an Australian cultural development project will be held at Craigieburn Gallery on Saturday.

Meet+Eat is a film-documentary project co-ordinated by Sydney-based community cultural development organisation CuriousWorks and sponsored by VicHealth, Scanlon Foundation and Hume council

In Hume, the project has so far produced three episodes on residents. Each filmed episode features the act of sharing a meal as a way of getting people from different cultures to get to know each other. The films feature music by Broadmeadows composer David Osborne, Craigieburn’s Iraqi pop-star Yousif Aziz, the Samoan Community Choir and choirs from Meadows and Gladstone Park primary schools.

Meet+Eat will screen on a continuous loop at Craigieburn Gallery until October 13.

A smaller display of the films and stills is at the Broadmeadows Global Learning Centre exhibition space from November 9-29. \ hG
