Fine time for Doreen ‘excavater’ after neighbour’s house collapses

A man who excavated a Doreen property has been convicted and fined for causing a neighbouring property to collapse.

Heidelberg Magistrates Court heard that the man carried out the work for a proposed dwelling, excavating to a depth of two metres, before a building permit had been issued.

He was ordered to pay a fine of $1500 and court costs of $2787.
