WHITTLESEA will get a library hub with a full range of services as part of the redevelopment of its community centre.
The Minister for Local Government, Jeanette Powell, announced a $400,000 grant towards the library last week. .
The library hub will eventually replace the mobile library service which visits twice a week.
“Whittlesea residents wanting library access outside the mobile library hours have to travel
20 kilometres to Mill Park Library, which is
not easy for many people,” mayor Stevan
Kozmevski said.
In other grants, Laurimar’s Town Park Sports Pavilion will get $100,000 towards an additional building that will include four change rooms, two umpires’ rooms, administration office, first-aid room and a storage room.
Northern Metropolitan MLC, Craig Ondarchie, announced the $100,000 state government grant last Tuesday.
Cr Kozmevski said the new facilities would benefit Laurimar Football Club, Power Netball Club, Laurimar Thunder Basketball Club and broader community.
