BUNDOORA’S $22 million office development at University Hill has opened with the promise of 300 jobs.
Planning Minister Matthew Guy said 240 UNI HILL would “provide local jobs closer to where people live”.
The development, with office space for 39 small businesses, is the third commercial building at University Hill, which combines residential, retail and commercial activities. Mr Guy said existing development with retailers, businesses and residents had already created 1500 jobs, and the new office block was expected to create a further 300.
“Providing local jobs in the growth areas and new suburbs where our workforce is increasingly opting to live is an integral part of managing Melbourne’s growth,” Mr Guy said. He said University Hill was an example of a well-planned, mixed-use development that had attracted information technology, research and development businesses, and regional headquarters for leading corporations.
Whittlesea mayor Stevan Kozmevski said it was an example of how to create jobs in growth areas. The $1 billion University Hill development was awarded the Property Council of Australia’s 2011 GroupGSA award for best master-planned community.
