Woman assaulted in Westfield car park

Police have appealed for witnesses to an alleged sexual assault at the Westfield Plenty Valley shopping centre earlier this month.

A 19-year-old Whittlesea woman went to her car about 9.25pm while dining with friends at a restaurant on Wednesday, August 15, police said.

They said she noticed two men standing nearby watching her as she retrieved her purse before walking back to the restaurant.

A short time later the victim returned to her car and was standing near the driver’s door when she realised one of the men she had seen earlier was standing behind her.

Police claim the man pinned the woman up against her car and indecently assaulted her before threatening her and running away.

The alleged attacker is in his early 20s, about 180cms tall, with dark tanned skin, bloodshot eyes with a deep voice. The second man is about 170cms tall, Caucasian and in his early 20s.

Witnesses are asked to call Crime Stoppers on on 1800 333 000.
