THE Epping mother of a man who died at a festival is reeling after getting an email from organisers inviting her to the next event.
Daniel Buccianti, 34, died of a drug cocktail overdose at the Rainbow Serpent Festival at Lexton, about 50 km north-west of Ballarat, in January.
His mother, Adrianna Buccianti, said she had used her credit card to buy her son’s ticket on the internet, and claimed organisers should have known she was his mother.
‘‘Instead I get an email telling me to hurry up and buy tickets,’’ she said.
‘‘It triggered a whole roller-coaster of emotions.’’
She said that despite organisers promising to pass on condolences from other festival-goers who posted on the event’s website, she had heard nothing. ‘‘Not a phone call, not a bunch of flowers for his funeral, but they could send me an email inviting me to the next festival,’’ she said.
Daniel Buccianti died about 1.30am on January 29, several hours after phoning his mother and saying he had ‘‘taken some bad acid’’.
‘‘I want to know what happened during those missing hours, I want to know why nobody noticed he was ill,’’ she said.
She said a toxicology report revealed he died of a combination of drugs, but she didn’t know if he had sought help.
The coroner is investigating and will hold an inquest in November, two months before the next festival.
‘‘I want the festival banned, or at least made alcohol and drug-free,’’ she said.
The festival organisers did not respond to queries, but the event website states no drugs are permitted.
