Ride to Conquer Cancer: Ivanhoe teacher carries sister’s memory in heart

IVANHOE Grammar music teacher James Chappel carries the memory of his big sister in his heart when he cycles for charity.

The 27-year-old lost his sister Jo in July, using her as inspiration to train for the 200km Ride to Conquer Cancer.

The Plenty Campus teacher raised more than $2500 in last weekend’s event, riding from Melbourne to Healesville, camping overnight, and returning to Melbourne the next day.

“If jumping on my bike and raising money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre can help prevent other families from losing loved ones too soon, I’ll be ecstatic,” he said.
