Whittlesea Bridge club looks to master cup field

The horses may be limbering up for next week’s Melbourne Cup but Whittlesea Bridge Club players have their eyes on a different prize.

The club will hold a cup special tournament next Monday night. Club president Lyndall Shaw said winners would receive coveted “red points” needed to climb the bridge world’s ladder to the title of grand master.

She said 40 members played between six and eight tables of bridge every Monday from 12.30pm at the Whittlesea Bowls Club. The club has started bridge lessons on Wednesdays from 7.30pm at Whittlesea scout hall at 40 Fir Street, Whittlesea. Details: 57861839.
