Follow clues to reading at Yarra Plenty

BUDDING spies can snoop out the best books in the Yarra Plenty Regional Library through its Detect a Tale program.

Children aged 3 to 12, like Max and Monica, can join the library’s annual summer reading club. They must read at least 10 books to enter a draw for the chance to win an Apple iPad and other prizes. The club runs until Friday, February 1, and includes events and activities during the holidays.

Children can join at any library branch and pick up the club kit including reading lists, a reading record, activity sheets and details of club activities.

They also get a badge, eraser and sticker with every 10-book reading sheet completed.

Library spokeswoman Blaise van Hecke said summer reading had been shown to help “children make great progress with writing, spelling and reading”.
