Cat shot dead with bow and arrow, Doreen man questioned over ‘horrific act’

Police have questioned a 39-year-old Doreen man over the fatal shooting of a cat with a high-powered bow and arrow. The man was released without charge.

“Police are seeking witnesses and more information, and we appeal for people to come forward,” Detective Senior Constable Mark Van Poeteren said.

RSPCA inspector Simon Primrose said at the time of the attack, around September 23, it was a “horrific act”.

The cat was shot through its front left ribcage with a high-tech arrow that exited the right side of its back and seen near the service station in Plenty Road, Mernda, with the arrow embedded in it.

Anyone with information should call the Mill Park criminal investigation unit on 9407 3333.
