Anzac Day: Northern suburbs community ready to pay respect

Peter Bevilacqua, John Merrett, Peter Thompson, Harry Martin and Bill ‘Bluey’ Cummins will join the Whittlesea community to commemorate our Diggers this Anzac Day.

Epping RSL will have a memorial march on April 21, beginning at the corner of High and Coulstock streets at 10am .

A dawn service on April 25 will start at 6am.

Whittlesea RSL Anzac Day events will start with a dawn service at the burnt-out St Peter’s Church in Kinglake.

A march will leave from Whittlesea Bowls Club at 2pm and stop at memorials along the way.

Epping RSL president Herb Mason is proud of the strong sense of community the events instill.

‘‘It’s important we remember and thank those people who gave their lives to this country,’’ he says.
