Whittlesea mayor Rex Griffin raises the starter’s gun for the April 20 Relay for Life, which is expected to attract more than 300 City of Whittlesea residents including Emily Stephens, Raelene Draper, Gerry Fay and Brooke Linton (pictured).
The 18-hour relay aims to raise awareness and money for the Cancer Council.
There will be a dedicated lap to celebrate cancer survivors and a candlelight ceremony at dusk to pay tribute to loved ones affected by the illness.
Whittlesea City Relay for Life co-ordinator Emma Bridgland says the event is “a fun way for family and friends to get involved to fight back against cancer’’.
The event aims to raise $50,000.
Teams can register on the day at Meadowglen Athletics Stadium in McDonalds Road, Epping.
