Need a trolley? Check Darebin Creek

Dumped shopping trolleys are becoming a huge problem for our waterways.

The Darebin Creek Management Committee and the Banyule and Darebin council’s Bushcrews are joining forces to combat the problem, retrieving almost 200 trolleys during the past year.

Committee co-ordinator Adrian Infanti (right) and Peter Grenfell are at the coalface of the problem, helping deal with trolleys clogging up the Darebin Creek.

Infanti says shoppers can play a vital role in reducing the problem.

“We are asking that shoppers don’t take trolleys home, and ensure they are returned to shopping trolley bays in car parks,” he  says.
