Northern Health puts McKenna House in-house palliative care team in focus

Northern Health unveiled a photographic collage at McKenna House, its in-house palliative care unit, last week to mark “palliative care week”.

The photographs were of staff and friends of the unit, said  Northern Health chief executive officer Janet Compton.

“This collage will bring patients and their families together with the community that supports them and the staff who are involved in their care, and will showcase the diversity of the region and the dedication of our Northern Health staff,” she said.

“We believe that palliative care is not just about providing end-of-life care, but about offering support and treatment to our patients at all stages of a life-limiting illness.”

McKenna House nurse unit manager John Doran said palliative care involved looking after a person’s physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
