Students switched on

While tax agents may no longer have to count carbon, Victoria’s school students still have the formulas on their curriculum.

Last week, 12 more northern schools joined more than 1000 primary
and secondary schools now involved in ResourceSmart’s Australian
Sustainable Schools Initiative, which provides “green” grants of up to $10,000 to reduce energy use.

Environment and Climate Change Minister Ryan Smith and Education Minister Martin Dixon said 189 new grants were now ready to audit energy consumption and install energy efficient measures.

Recipients include St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Catholic parish school and St
Peter’s Primary School at Epping North, Broadmeadows Special
Development School, Meadows and Broadmeadows Valley primary schools at
Broadmeadows, Findon Primary School, Plenty Parklands and Mill Park
Heights primary schools at Mill Park, Lalor Secondary College, Pascoe
Vale Primary School and the Australian International Academy at Coburg.
