Roses were honoured in ancient Greece as the queen of flowers.
For the founder of Yuroke’s Tibetan Buddhist Society, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, it was more simple: roses make people happy.
The society’s resident gardening expert, Venerable Tim McKibben, said Geshe Loden designed and then built the four-hectare Peaceful Land of Joy gardens.
“One reason Geshe Loden designed and built such a peaceful, meditative environment was to help visitors experience some calm in their busy lives,” Venerable McKibben said.
With thousands of multi-coloured salvias also ready to bloom, the society is opening the gates from 10am-4pm this Saturday and Sunday.
