Lifesaving skills program for over-60s

A new pilot water safety and lifesaving skills program will start on April 23 at WaterMarc in Greensborough.

Men and women aged 60 and above are being called on to participate.

Life Saving Victoria and WaterMarc have teamed up to deliver the ‘Grey Medallion’ program as part of LSV’s ‘Helping older adults to become Everyday Lifesavers’ social inclusion and health project for over-60s.

The free program will run for 10 weeks on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30-3.30pm. It is open to both WaterMarc members and residents of Banyule City Council.

The program aims to reduce drowning while encouraging seniors to enjoy a healthy, independent and active lifestyle.

It will cover water safety knowledge, resuscitation and emergency care, aquatic exercise and personal survival and lifesaving skills.
