Hume locals will soon get a progress update on Dianella’s $12 million GP super clinic at Broadmeadows.
Dianella chief executive Veronica Jamison is hoping the news will include an announcement about dental services as the final component of the one-stop medical shop in the central business district locale of Coleraine Street.
With a ground floor pharmacy and pathology service, the clinic will also include physiotherapy, podiatry and occupational therapy services as well as dieticians and counsellors.
Ms Jamison said the new clinic, a joint venture funded by Dianella ($5 million) and the federal government ($7 million), was testament to the support of local community and agencies, and the perseverance of federal and state MPs Maria Vamvakinou and Frank McGuire in the face of potentially disastrous health budget cuts.
She said the clinic would enable health professionals to work in multidisciplinary teams with hospitals, other agencies and
GPs to help streamline services for people from one of the most disadvantaged areas of Melbourne.
The super clinic, due to be opened last April, is now expected to be finished by the end of the year. Services are due to start in February next year.
