Off limits for now
A 32-year-old Thomastown woman had her car impounded last Thursday night after she was caught speeding nearly 20km/h over the limit and with a blood alcohol reading of 0.205 per cent. The woman’s car was intercepted by Epping highway patrol on Edgars Road about 8pm after being clocked travelling at 87km/h in a 70km/h zone. Officers breath-tested the woman, who returned a reading more than four times the legal limit. She was also found to be driving on a disqualified licence and will be charged on summons to appear before the courts at a later date.
Ramadan done

Bikies not all bad
Motorcycle and scooter riders from across Melbourne will gather at Brown’s Corner Hotel, Coburg, next month to address recommendations of a parliamentary inquiry. Organisers, the Independent Riders Group, claim the recommendations contradict a number of aspects of new Victorian government laws banning some common overseas riding practices and slapping special taxes on motorcycle owners. The free seminar will start at noon on Sunday, August 9. www.facebook.com/independentridersgroup
