A single-storey brick house at Meadow Heights was severely damaged by fire on Saturday evening.
Firefighters were called in about 11.45pm but by the time they arrived the house was well alight.
Five pumper units and a rescue crew wearing breathing apparatus were deployed and the 23 firefighters brought the blaze under control in less than 10 minutes.
The residents, an elderly couple, were not home but returned when alerted by a neighbour. The woman was treated at the scene for shock.
Damage is estimated to be about $200,000 and experts are investigating the cause of the blaze.
