Meadows Heights: Fire causes big damage to unit

Four pumpers and 18 firefighters took about 30 minutes to bring a blaze under control that severely damaged a single-storey unit in Rocklands Rise, Meadows Heights, overnight.

Neighbours called the firefighters in just before 2am but it was well alight by the time fire crews, including CFA units, arrived.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The crews worked hard to protect adjoining homes.

MFB says the damage is estimated at more than $250,000.

MFB fire investigation officers are inspecting the site  on Thursday to determine the cause for the blaze.
