There will be no re-grading for the Northern Football League women’s competition this season.
The league released its women’s fixtures on Monday, with 31 teams to compete across three grades this season.
The league said there will be no re-grading as the league starts the progression towards a promotion-relegation structure in line with the men’s competition.
Previously there has been grading games the first four weeks of the season.
There will be seven teams in division 1, 12 teams in division 2 and 12 teams making up division 3 this season.
“The NFNL is excited by the continued growth of women’s football in the north as we welcome secondary teams to Lower Plenty, St Mary’s and Eltham,” the league said.
“Mernda also returns, set to field their women’s team in division 3 after a short hiatus.”
South Morang will play in division 2, while Mernda, Laurimar, Whittlesea and Thomastown will all play in division 3.
The senior women’s competition will commence on 12 April
Finals for all division will commence Sunday 2 August with the grand finals scheduled for 23 August.
