Have your say on reserve upgrades

Whittlesea council is inviting residents to have their say on local park upgrades to shape the future of recreation in the municipality.

The council is planning landscape improvement upgrades at Findon Recreation Reserve in Mill Park and R.G.C. Cook Recreation Reserve in Thomastown.

Feedback is being sought on potential additions such as improved lighting, signage, seating and picnic areas, as well as upgrades to facilities including drinking fountains and benches.

Council said the proposed upgrades aim to create safer, more welcoming and accessible spaces that better support community activity, relaxation and social connection.

Findon Recreation Reserve spans approximately 10.8 hectares and features four soccer grounds. Council said it is open to feedback on this park’s facilities, but is not able to make changes to the playground, sporting fields or the surrounding streetscape.

R.G.C. Cook Recreation Reserve is a 6.4-hectare community park with two full-sized soccer grounds. While playground upgrades are being considered at this site, improvements to the pavilion and streetscape cannot be delivered in the plan.

Community consultation will close on 10 March for Findon Recreation Reserve and 16 March for R.G.C. Cook Recreation Reserve.
