Meet an Olympic skateboarder and enjoy live music at the Sounds of Summer skate park event in Donnybrook this Saturday 21 February.
Olympian Hayley Wilson will make a special appearance at the free Olivine skate park opening event which will run from 11am to 1pm next to the Olivine recreation reserve.
The 800 square metre skate park features a range of street-style elements for all abilities including ramps, rails, and quarter pipes.
Throughout the event there will be skating demonstrations and workshops where beginners can learn foundational skills for skating.
You can spend the afternoon enjoying the live music, sausage sizzle, free coffee and kids face painting.
There will also be a meet and greet with the skate park artist, where visitors can learn about the inspiration for the artwork, which honours the Wurundjeri totems Bunjil (Eagle) and Waa (Crow).
Be sure to bring your picnic blanket so you can soak up the good vibes, and take your skateboard, rollerblades, or bicycle with you to try out the new skate park.
