Police arrested two youths this morning, January 20, after they allegedly stole a car from a house in Mernda.
It is alleged that a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy broke into a house on Oakwood street, took car keys from inside and stole a Toyota Corolla before driving off.
Police found the Corolla on Plenty Road, South Morang, before it turned into an estate near Rivergum Drive. Police cornered off the area and used vehicle immobilisation devices on Blosom Park Drive, Mill Park.
The alleged offenders continued to drive the car but abandoned it on Childs Road and ran from the scene.
The boys, both from the Whittlesea area, were arrested after a short search and have since assisted police with their enquiries.
