Police are investigating a fatal crash in Somerton in which a rolling truck hit a pole that fell on a passing car killing the driver.
At 7.45am on December 9, a truck travelling north on the Hume Highway and a red sedan collided near Austrak Drive.
Police say the truck rolled and crashed into a pole which fell onto a silver Honda travelling in the opposite direction.
Emergency services responded to the crash and worked on the female driver of the car. She died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.
The male truck driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the red sedan were not injured.
According to Victoria Police, 269 lives have been lost on roads so far this year.
