Local artists invited to apply for art exhibition

Whittlesea council is encouraging local artists to submit their work to the 2026 art exhibition, inviting them to explore the theme ‘BELONG’.

Whittlesea mayor Lawrie Cox said belonging is at the heart of community.

“I encourage all local artists to share their stories and celebrate what connects us… creativity brings people together,” Cr Cox said.

All local artists are welcome to submit work in any medium.

“I look forward to seeing the diverse and meaningful ways our artists explore the theme of Belong,” he said.

Selected artworks will be showcased at the Plenty Ranges Art and Convention Centre in May 2026.

“This exhibition has played an important part in our creative community for more than 20 years, and each year it continues to inspire,” Cr Cox said.

The 2025 Art Award recipient Ildiko Kormanyos encouraged artists to participate.

“I love it because anyone can be involved,” Ms Kormanyos said.

Artists are encouraged to submit an expression of interest before 5pm on Monday 16 March by visiting https://www.whittlesea.vic.gov.au/Things-to-see-and-do/Arts-culture-and-heritage/Art-exhibitions-and-events/2026-Art-Exhibition-Belong-A-Fundamental-Human-Need
