Bulls continue to build

Bundoora is putting in the hard work as it aims to go one step further in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association Barclay Shield.

The Bulls shocked many last season when they made the grand final when they came from fourth.

This season other clubs know what to expect but the side has still started strongly, sitting 3-1.

Coach Wayne Wunhym said it had been an up and down start to the season.

“It’s been relatively good and the boys are gelling well together,” he said.

“There’s definitely a lot of hard work that the group has put in and it’s starting to come to fruition.”

Wunhym said the focus for the group this season had been to be a bit more consistent and support each other.

He said so far things had been going to plan.

The Bulls managed to keep together last season’s squad and have added one key addition to further bolster the squad.

“Allan [Arora] is a player we have got from New Zealand,” Wunhym said.

“He came to work in Melbourne and he thankfully landed on our doorstep.

“He’s been really good and up beat and he’s been good around the guys.

“He’s added some enthusiasm which we needed.”

The Bulls on Saturday come away with a strong win against Heidelberg.

Batting first, the Bulls made 5-188 from their overs,

Shupinder Taggar top scored with 55 not out.

Heidelberg then gave the Bulls a bit of a fright with the bat.

“It was a nailbiter at the start,” Wunhym said. “They got off to a good start, but thankfully we were able to bring it back which was really good.

“Everyone worked together which is a good sign.”

Heidelberg was bowled out for 137 after being 1-84 at one stage.

Taggar took three wickets and Arora chipped in with two wickets.

Bundoora will face Rosanna the next two Saturdays in a rematch of last season’s grand final.

The sides sit top of the table so far.

“We have to play at our best,” Wunhym said. “I think it will be a really good challenge to see where we are at.

“We got beaten by them last year and it’ll be a good challenge to step up.

“I think we’re up to it, which is very encouraging.”

Wunhym said things were continuing to track well across the club with a lot more depth.

“That is what we have been focusing on for the last three years,” he said.

“Having depth and pushing guys from top right through to bottom.

“Training has been really good.

“All four sides had really good wins on the weekend.”
