Police investigate attack on Doreen man

Police are investigating after a 43-year-old Doreen man was attacked by an unknown man in Essendon.

The victim was slashed with a machete by the unidentified man on the morning of Thursday 13 November.

Officers were told the victim was at a car wash on Mount Alexander Road when a vehicle pulled up in the entrance about 9am.

The unknown male offender, armed with a machete, approached the victim and slashed his hand.

The victim attempted to run away before being slashed again on the upper body.

The offender fled in his vehicle and left the victim seriously injured.

Emergency services treated the Doreen man at the scene before taking him to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The offender was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava, with his vehicle described as a dark SUV.

Detectives are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have been driving past and have dashcam or CCTV vision, to come forward.
