Three more arrested in Broadmeadows affray

A further three people have been arrested as police continue investigating a violent affray at Broadmeadows Railway Station on Wednesday 22 October.

Police allege two groups believed to have been known to each other were involved in an altercation at the station just after 3pm on Wednesday.

Two 17-year-old boys were found with stab wounds and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, with one undergoing surgery the following day.

A 19-year-old man from Heidelberg West and a 17-year-old boy from the Banyule area were initially arrested at Glenroy Railway Station soon after the incident.

The 17-year-old was charged with affray and assault sentences, while the 19-year-old was released pending further inquiries.

Police seized a screwdriver while investigating the crime scene area, alleging it was used as a weapon to assault one of the victims.

Witnesses described seeing other weapons, including a machete, however none were located during their search of the scene.

Police have since arrested three more teens from the Hume area, including a 16-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys.

The 16-year-old was arrested on Thursday 23 October and charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury.

He was bailed by police to appear at a children’s court at a later date.

The two 17-year-old boys were charged with affray and unlawful assault.

They were both granted bail with one to appear to a children’s court at a later day.

Additional police have been deployed to Broadmeadows Railway Station in response to the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents, with CCTV/dashcam footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
