Man charged following Thomastown ram raid

Police have charged a man following a ramraid at a shop in Thomastown.

It is alleged that a white Toyota Prado rammed a roller door at the rear of a business near the corner of Dalton and Settlement roads about 10.45pm on July 9.

Investigators allege a group of offenders filed into the building and stole a significant amount of stock.

The Toyota allegedly fled the scene.

With the assistance of Airwing, it is alleged that the same Toyota was spotted a short time later in a shopping centre carpark on Pascoe Vale Road in Broadmeadows.

Officers swiftly moved in and arrested a 42-year-old Carlton man, alleged to be the driver.

Investigators seized items from the Toyota alleged to be stolen from the Thomastown store.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Thomastown address earlier in the night.

The Carlton man was charged with burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.

He was bailed to to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on August 29.

The investigation to identify the other people involved remains ongoing.
