A Craigieburn man is expected to be charged on summons after being caught riding an unregistered and unroadworthy motorcycle.
The 29-year-old rider came to the attention of State Highway Patrol officers about 10.49am on July 2.
Police said the man had attempted to enhance the roadworthiness of the motorcycle by attaching a torch to the front mud guard held securely in place by ‘race tape’ as a headlight.
Police intercepted the man’s bike and discovered that the rider did not hold a driver’s licence. Furthermore, he had never held a licence to ride a motorcycle, according to police.
The man also returned a positive roadside drug test, police said.
His motorcycle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1160.
He will be charged on summons to face Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
