Epping CFA after members

Epping CFA is keen to bring in reinforcements to help strengthen the local bridge as the number of calls it attends increases.

The bridge is running a recruitment campaign from July 7 through to the end of the month and is putting out a call out for like-minded individuals to join the brigade and serve the community locally.

Epping second lieutenant Liam Gallagher said the 2024-25 financial year was the brigade’s busiest in its 80 year history.

“We are looking to recruit 25 volunteers with the goal of 25 in 2025,” he said. “We had 654 call outs in the final year,

“We want to build our capacity across all times of day to meet the growing demands.”

The Epping bridge is all volunteer and if they don’t have enough volunteers it puts the pressure on more people to attend more calls and leads to fatigue.

Mr Gallagher said not only was Epping growing, so was the northern corridor, with the brigade helping other local bridges and Fire Rescue Victoria units at call outs.

With more people living in the area, they are expecting the number of calls to continue to grow.

Mr Gallagher said they were looking for community minded people to join the bridge.

“We offer nationally accredited training and we have that community and camaraderie.

“We’re after people to continue to serve the community.”

Interesting people can apply through the Epping CFA website.
