Tarneit Central upsets Panthers

Tarneit Central claimed an upset win against the Merrifield Panthers on Saturday in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association George Luscombe Shield.

The Panthers entered the match undefeated with Tarneit in a fight for a finals spot.

Merrifield batted first and were bowled out for 182.

Ps Shergill top scored with 53 at the top of the order. Kapilmeet Singh Sandhu took 3-15 for Tarneit.

Tarneit was able to get the job done in the 39th over, finishing 7-186. Gurpreet Singh, who came in at number seven, top scored with 55 not out off 64 balls.

Talwinder Prince took three wickets for the Panthers.

The Panthers remain on top, while Tarneit sits in fourth spot.

In other matches, the Chargers were too strong for Gladstone Park.

The Chargers made 8-231 from their overs with Suneel Younis Mughal top scoring with 49.

After putting on 36 for the opening partnership, the Burras crumbled to 4-61.

Another collapse later in the order saw the Burras go from 5-121 to all out for 152.

Aaron Amos top scored with 50 for the Burras.

Kealba-Green Gully had a big win against Aberfeldie St Johns.

Aberfeldie St Johns was bowled out for 129 in the 33rd over.

The Cougars had no trouble in the run chase, finishing 2-130 in the 23rd over.

Skipper Evan Long top scored with 59 not out.

The Cougars sit fifth spot, four points behind Tarneit.

Darebin Chargers beat Aintree in the other match.

Aintree was bowled out for 143, before Darebin came out hitting to get the runs in the 16th over.

Darebin finished 4-145.
