Road upgrade team visits preschool

The team behind the Epping Road upgrade paved the way for educational fun during their recent visit to a local kinder.

Members from the team attended the Epping Preschool for an hour of special activities on November 25.

Appropriately outfitted for the session in child-sized safety vests and hard hats, the children enjoyed a talk about how local roads connect their community.

The children also had an opportunity to design roads connecting local places and amenities.

At the end of the program, the project team gave the preschool booklets with road-related activities and games as a special memento of the visit.

Thomastown MP Bronwyn Halfpenny said the session was an innovative way for the children to learn more about their region.

“I’m delighted that our local preschoolers had fun while learning about building roads and how road and walking and cycling paths are an important part of connecting communities,” she said.

“The project team’s visit was a highlight as we celebrate an investment that will be used by future generations.”

Once the upgrade is complete, children, their guardians and staff will enjoy safer and easier travel to the preschool with an additional lane in each direction on Epping Road and improved walking and cycling paths.

The project is adding lanes in each direction between Craigieburn Road East and Memorial Avenue.

It will also improve six intersections and deliver better connections for pedestrians and cyclists.

The upgrade is due for completion in 2025.
