Old Paradians star ruck Sam Gilmore won’t be returning for next year’s Northern Football League division 2 season. Gilmore, who had been one of the stars of the division 1 competition previously, has decided to return to division 1 club Heidelberg next year. The Raiders said in a social media post that the club thanks him for his leadership and experience this year. The Raiders new signings so far are Darcy Vallance and Sam Philip.

Premier Cricket

The Greenvale Kangaroos will need early wickets on day two of its Victorian Premier Cricket clash with Dandenong. Coming off their first win of the season, the Kangaroos decided to bat on Saturday. Ryan Stingel top scored with 90 as the Kangaroos were bowled out for 199 in the 63rd over. Dandenong ate into the total late on day one and will result at 2-90 on day two.

Bowls

Bundoora lost a thriller to Yarraville Footscray in the Bowls Victoria weekend pennant premier division on Friday night. Searching for its second win of the season, Bundoora lost 72 (14)-70 (4). Corey Wedlock and Gary Kelly were the winning skips for Bundoora. After four rounds, Bundoora sits in sixth spot. In premier reserve, Whittlesea lost to Lilydale 91 (16)-55 (2). Whittlesea has one win after four rounds.

EDFL

Greenvale has signed Reuben Rode for next year’s Essendon District Football League premier division season. Rode joins the Jets from Wallan in the Riddell District Football League, having played with the Calder Cannons and been part of Essendon’s next generation academy. Rode is the first new signing announced for the Jets, who have announced a number of re-signings in recent weeks after returning to finals.
