Tough weekend for Hume teams

It was a tough weekend for Hume-based teams in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association.

Just Roxburgh Park was able to claim the points as all divisions were able to get in a full game for the first time this season.

In senior division, Craigieburn narrowly avoided an outright defeat against Yarraville Club.

The Clubbers resumed at 6-96 in reply to the Eagles’ 111.

The Clubbers only just made the runs, declaring 9-115.

Joshua Rasu took 5-59 for the Eagles.

The Eagles were sent back in and were bowled out for 131. Rasu top scored with 38.

Yarraville Club raced to 5-85 in its second innings, but fell short of getting the whole 10 points.

Dilum Weerarathna took three wickets for the Eagles.

Westmeadows also suffered defeat against Airport West St Christophers.

Defending 233, the Warriors had Airport West in trouble at 4-51.

A 100-run partnership for the fifth wicket got Airport West back on track and it managed to get the winning runs with nearly four overs remaining.

Airport West finished 7-236.

Donovan Pell and Suresh De silva took two wickets each for the Warriors.

In the Steve McNamara Shield, Tullamarine lost outright to Newport-Digman.

The Bulls made 209 in their first innings before restricting Tullamarine to 9-72.

The Demons were sent straight back in and finished 9-120 in their second innings.

Nishitha Weerakoon top scored with 30.

In the Evans-Clark Shield, Roxburgh Park bounced back from a disappointing first up performance against Melton South Royals, to get its first win on the board.

Facing St Andrew’s Footscray, the Falcons bowers got the job done on day two of the match.

The Falcons had made 149 before restricting St Andrew’s to 114 on Saturday.

In the Russell Pollock Shield, both Donnybrook and Jacana suffered losses.

Barkly St Uniting chased Donnybrook’s total down with three wickets in hand, while Jacana total against Wyndham Vale was overtaken four wickets down.
