Pingers add experience, depth

Epping has brought in some experience for next year’s Northern Football League division 3 season, headlined by the league’s reigning best and fairest winner.

Former AFL footballer Brent Macaffer headlines the signings for the Pingers so far.

Macaffer comes to the Pingers from Old Eltham Turtles where he won the division 3 league best and fairest and won three club best and fairests

He has also won the league division 2 best and fairest award since his AFL career which included 77 games and a premiership ended.

“In addition to signing for us for season 2025, Caff’s has an eager eye for helping the Epping community,” the club said in its announcement.

“He will help out the club by contributing heavily to the juniors.”

Joining Macaffer is Matt Williamson, who also played at the Turtles this year. He won the league goal kicking in 2023 with 66 goals.

Lane Tucker and Buckley Chapman both cross from Sunshine in the Western Football League.

Tucker has played with Thomastown previously and won a premiership with Jacana in 2017.

Chapman, who was part of Sunshine’s reserves premiership this year, has played more than 50 senior games at the Kangaroos and Tullamarine.

Seb D’arro has come across from Thomastown. He is a key defender with plenty of experience including playing senior finals.

Mitchell Brown joins from West Preston Lakeside and will provide some support in the ruck department.

He is looking for more senior opportunities.

Lachlan Agnew is another player coming from a division 1 club, crossing from Greensborough.

He has played 30 senior games and will provide some run and carry off half back.

Key defender Zac Gillard crosses from Hadfield where he was a playing assistant coach.

Luke Jeffs comes from Whittlesea where he played 10 division 1 senior games before injury in 2023.

He is expected to add some midfield depth.
