The Essendon District Football League has revealed its premier division teams of the year.

The league announced its women’s team on Wednesday night, followed by the men’s team on Friday.

In the women’s team, all eight clubs are represented.

Hillside’s rapid resurgence to be the minor premiers was recognised with Hannah Ibrahim and Blaise Ferraro named captain and coach of the team of the year respectively.

Ibrahim retains her spot as ruck rover. Her teammates Caitlin Sargent, who was the leading goalkicker, and Annie Gray are also in the team.

Kiera Leare was the only representative from Keilor, while Westmeadows had two in Gemma Wright and Ruby Smith.

Essendon Doutta Stars had the most representatives with four.

In the men’s premier division, it’s no surprise that Keilor has the most representatives with six.

Brad Xavier, James Bailey, Nick O’Kearney, Corey Ellis, Cody Brand and Kane Barbuto are all named in the team.

Xavier, O’Kearney, Ellis and Barbuto were named in last year’s team as well.

Blues coach Mick McGuane has been named coach of the year.

Deer Park’s Billy Cannolo was named at half back. It’s his first team of the year nomination in the EDFL.

Greenvale was the only team not to have a player selected in the team.

The division 1 teams were also named recently.

Tullamarine’s Jake Long, St Albans Brandon Coletta, Jamie Gorgievski, Hillside’s Josh Covelli, and Roxburgh Park’s Jack Elliott were named in the division 1 men’s team.

In the women’s division 1 team, Greenvale and Burnside Heights dominated the team.

The Jets Terira Fry, Amy Hakim, Haylea Cooke, Alisa Magri and Grace Matser, along with the Bears Brodie Stevens, Kayla Ravanello, Holly McGregor, Bella Negri, Krissy Trang, Payton-Ani Ozols and Kiara Asani-Davis all made the team.

Others in the team included Tullamarine’s Elisha Wain and Tricia Devine, and Keilor Park’s Alexandra Kilty and Sarah Ponti.
