The season came to an end for both Northern Knights teams and the Calder Cannons boys in the Coates Talent League competitions.
The Knights girls were in action on Saturday against the Eastern Ranges in their final.
It was the Ranges that started the better of the two teams, leading by 16 points.
The margin increased to 24 points despite the Knights kicking their first goal of the game.
Northern continued to fight in the third quarter and reduced the margin to 12 points heading into the final quarter.
The Knights kicked two goals to one in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough, losing 5.15 (45)-5.4 (34).
It was all single goalkickers for the Knights.
Mary Robinson, Holly Ridewood and Isabella Caminiti were named the Knights best.
The Knights boys were then in action on Sunday against the Oakleigh Chargers at ETU Stadium.
The Chargers led by 15 points at quarter time with the margin remaining the same at the main break.
The Chargers were able to extend it by two points heading into the final quarter.
Four goals to one in the final quarter closed the gap for the Knights, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 9.16 (70)-10.8 (68).
Seb Murphy kicked three goals for the Knights, while Liam Farrar kicked two goals.
Kristian Lawson, Jordyn Gillard and Riley Ormerod were named their best.
The Calder Cannons season came to an end as well on Sunday, losing to the Sandringham Dragons.
The Dragons led at quarter time by 11 points before blowing the margin out to 41 at the main break.
The damage was done and the Cannons struggled to get back into the game.
Sandringham increased the lead in each of the last two quarters to come away with a 17.14 (116)-8.8 (56) win.
Carled El Khodr and Cooper Duff-Tytler were named the Cannons best. El Khodr, Cooper Herbert and Patrick Said kicked two goals each for the Cannons.
