AFLW practice games for free

The AFL is pleased to announce that the upcoming AFLW Practice Matches will be free to attend for all fans.

The Practice Matches will run from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18 with Match Simulation Training the weekend prior.

It will be the first opportunity for fans to see their new-look teams ahead of the 2024 NAB AFLW Season, which begins on Friday, August 30 with the Sydney Swans hosting Collingwood at North Sydney Oval.

Practice Matches will be live-streamed on club websites.

AFL executive general manager of football Laura Kane said she was looking forward to the upcoming Practice Matches and Match Simulation Trainings.

“The AFL are really excited for the upcoming 2024 NAB AFLW Season. A lot of work has gone into preparing for this season and anticipation is sky-high. I can’t wait to see my first glimpse of the competition before the opening week at the end of August,” Ms. Kane said.

“I encourage all fans to get to the games and catch a sneak peek of your new teams, coaches, draftees, players and game-plans – all for free!”

Match Simulation Training will occur across August 9-11, where the trainings are facilitated by clubs.

The format, number of players, game length and number of breaks for the Match Simulation Trainings can be agreed upon by the competing teams.

Arrangements and public access for Match Simulation Training will be managed and communicated by each club.

Fans and media should refer to club websites in the days leading up to their Match Simulation Trainings and Practice Matches for further details regarding access and streaming.
