Bundoora United’s run in the Nike F.C Cup has come to an end.
The Victorian Premier League women’s side made the semi finals for the first time this season and was the only team from the second tier competition to make it that far.
Bundoora faced National Premier League women’s side Preston Lions on Wednesday for a spot in the grand final.
The Lions scored twice in the first half to take control of the game.
Both teams scored in the second half, with the Lions first half enough to score a 3-1 win.
Karina De Paoli was the goal scorer for Bundoora United.
“A heartfelt congratulations to our senior women’s team for their unwavering determination and effort until the final whistle,” Bundoora said on its social media.
“Reaching the semi final in the Nike F.C Cup is an outstanding accomplishment, and you should all be immensely proud of your efforts.
“Although we did not secure a win, you have made history for BUFC and should hold your heads high with pride.
“We look forward to coming back even stronger next year.”
Bundoora will be back in action in the VPL on Sunday against the Casey Comets.
The side sits in fifth spot after 14 rounds.
