A 45-year-old Coolaroo man has been charged after a woman’s body was discovered at a waste management facility in Epping last week.
Staff at the Cooper Street facility found the body while moving green waste on Wednesday, July 3.
Police believe the woman was inside a bin that was picked up outside a property in Coolaroo on Tuesday, July 2 and taken to the facility.
The woman, who is still yet to be formally identified, is believed to be a 67-year-old Coolaroo woman.
Homicide Squad detectives arrested the man in Glenroy about 11.15 on July 9.
It is believed by police that the pair knew each other prior to the incident.
A significant CCTV canvas of the Coolaroo area remains ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage, particularly between Sunday, June 23 and Tuesday, July 2.
Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area around that time.
