Death after accident in Cragieburn

Police are investigating a collision that caused the death of a man in Craigieburn on Friday July 5.

Police were called to a report of a car colliding with two other cars at the intersection of Craigieburn Road and Waterview Boulevard about 6.10am.

The male driver, who is yet to be identified, ran from the scene before being arrested via a member of the public before officers arrived where he was taken into custody.

The man became unresponsive during the incident and he was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 63-year-old Sunbury man was also taken to hospital for observation.

Detectives will investigate the incident, with oversight by Professional Standards Command which is standard practice when a person dies while in police custody.
