Hume residents will find it easier to get rid of rubbish that cannot go in their household bin, with council to introduce flexible waste vouchers.
From July 1, tip passes will be phased out and the vouchers will be brought in for residents to use for three different services.
Households will have access to five waste vouchers that can be used to drop off waste, book a hard waste collection or use a newly implemented service, bundled branch collections, which will allow locals to book kerbside pick-ups of branches.
Additionally, residents will no longer have to be in possession of their rate notice as proof of address when dropping off waste at council’s resource recovery centres.
Existing tip passes and hard waste bookings will be honoured until their expiry date of September 30, 2024.
The entitlement period for bulk waste services will reset on July 1 each year, rather than October 1.
Council will also make changes to its Hume Clen Days, with the program to run four times a year on Saturday and Sunday, instead of just Saturday. The next Hume Clean Day is September 7-8.
